LESLEY ZIJLSTRA-EYRE

Handgemaakte gouden en zilveren sieraden.

ART925 Edelsmederij – klassiek, tijdloze sieraden in het hart van het platteland, door edelsmid Lesley Zijlstra-Eyre.

Lesley komt oorspronkelijk uit Engeland.

Veel van haar inspiratie komt van de heuvelachtige Peak District landschappen, wat haar thuis was voor meer dan 30 jaar.  Nu vormen de landschappen van de Alblasserwaard, met zijn rivieren de inspiratie voor haar huidige werk.

“…from one extreme to another” she comments, as she reflects upon the differing experiences that landscape has played in her life.  These experiences are dramatically mirrored in her jewellery creations as she employs a selection of studio techniques that she has mastered over the years from hobbyist to professional metalsmith.

Lesley takes us on a journey through time and soul; “…the various incarnations of me through my career are clearly evident in some of my designs, where great dissimilarities can be seen, forcing me to chose between analytical clean lines as in the Chromo Collection and the abstract, tactile surface treatments that can be seen in the Lunar Collection.  I guess this way I am able to satisfy both sides of my brain.”

Ontwerpen zijn gecreëerd van recycled edelmetaal, en met een creatieve slag kunnen ook andere waardevolle materialen of stenen van de hoogste kwaliteit gebruikt worden om tot een uniek sieraad te komen.

 

 

 

 

 

“…as a branch, the jewellery industry does not particularly follow ethical steps.  Where I can I endeavour to work in a sustainable manner; much of the gold and silver used in my creations is recycled and where they are used, stones and pearls are ethically sourced.  If it’s good for the environment, then it is good for me, I only utilise eco-friendly solutions and non- toxic chemicals in my workshop.’’
